Our well-being policy

An active well-being policy is one of the corner-stones on which the sustainable entrepreneurship of Umicore Precious Metals Refining is based.

1. Responsibility of the company

The well-being of all our employees and contractors is part of our strategic goals and activities. We consider the compliance with the legal rules as a minimum.

2. Permanent development and improvement

Every employee, staff as well as management, must be able to develop oneself and fully use and improve his talents and skills.
New scientific and technologic developments, social insights and the economic reality are our sources of inspiration.

3. Communication and training of our employees

Relying on the stimulation of their consciousness, their training and their motivation, our employees are taken up the responsibility for the well-being of their own and of their colleagues. We therefore put proper instructions and working procedures at their disposal. Our dialogue with the employees is based on a reciprocal trust and respect. We give and get information and have an appropriate communication as well on an individual basis as in our collective consultative bodies.

4. Risc management

We take care of safe working places and dedicate ourself to maintain the riscs as low as possible. Besides the physical wellness we aim the mental wellness, by offering our employees a varied and fascinating job. Safety and health of our neighbourhood is integrated in our prevention strategy.

5. Evaluation and self-control

In order to adjust the compliance with the wellness rules and procedures for our employees, we set up continuous observation programs. We perform a regular evaluation of our policy to adapt our control system to the needs of the concerned parties.
